
Biography
John Bradford Bohl (Countertenor)
John Bradford Bohl, countertenor, is currently the Assistant Music Director at St. Paul's,
K Street in Washington, DC, where he assists in the training of the boy, girl, and adult
choristers, and is the primary accompanist for the three Sunday liturgies, and numerous
holy day services. He leaves a similar position at Old Saint Paul’s Church in Baltimore, MD,
where he served as Assistant Organist and Choirmaster (2005-2007). John studied organ
and church music with Dr. Marilyn Keiser and voice with tenor Paul Elliott in the early music
department of Indiana University, and was a frequent soloist with all of the University choral
ensembles. John also worked a session singer for Aireborn Recording Studios in Indianapolis.
In addition to singing with the countertop quartet, John is a frequent vocalist with numerous Washington DC based
ensembles, currently singing with the Washington Bach Consort, and the Choirs of the Washington National Cathedral.
John has sung with the Woodley Ensemble (DC), Chantry (DC) , Meridian Vocal Consort (Indianapolis, IN), the Pro Arte
Singers (Bloomington, IN), the Holy Trinity Bach Choir (NYC) and the Festival Ensemble Stuttgart, conducted by Bach
scholar Helmuth Rilling. This passed season's solo engagements included Bach cantatas with the Handel Choir of
Baltimore and Handel’s Messiah as part of the Abendmusik series at First-Plymouth UCC Church in Lincoln, NE. John has
been soloist in numerous Bach cantatas, Bach B minor Mass, Magnificat, and St. John Passion, Bernstein Chichester
Psalms and Missa Brevis, Handel Dixit Dominus, Mozart Vespers and Litanies, Schumann Requiem for Mignon; Schubert,
Mass in A-flat and Vivaldi Gloria and Magnificat.
